Upcoming 9 Windows Phone Devices

With the Windows Phone 7 Mango update coming within 1-2 months or so, we decided to prepare a list of all of the upcoming smartphones running Microsoft’s mobile OS. As you probably already know, Mango is a big update to the platform, promising to bring more than 500 new features.
It is said that this time round it won’t be Microsoft which will unveil all of the phones. Rather, handset makers and their carrier partners will do that job, undoubtedly with some help (i.e. marketing dollars) coming from the Redmond giant. Because of that, I would assume brand exclusive features are now out. In the original launch, HTC got a 4.3-inch screen device, LG – DLNA and 16GB of ROM, and so on. As a result, you couldn’t find the ultimate Windows Phone 7 device. Hopefully, things will change this fall.

Guys Get ready for .anything!!-ICANN Approves Historic Change to Internet’s Domain Name System

June 20, 2011
For Immediate Release

ICANN Approves Historic Change to Internet’s Domain Name System

Plan to Launch New Generic Top-Level Domains Is Approved in Singapore

Singapore…

ICANN’s Board of Directors has approved a plan to usher in one of the biggest changes ever to the Internet’s Domain Name System. During a special meeting, the Board approved a plan to allow an increase in the number of Internet address endings - called generic top-level domains (gTLDs) - from the current 22, which includes such familiar domains as .com, .org and .net.
“ICANN has opened the Internet’s naming system to unleash the global human imagination. Today’s decision respects the rights of groups to create new Top Level Domains in any language or script. We hope this allows the domain name system to better serve all of mankind,” said Rod Beckstrom, President and Chief Executive Officer of ICANN.
New gTLDs will change the way people find information on the Internet and how businesses plan and structure their online presence. Virtually every organization with an online presence could be affected in some way.
Internet address names will be able to end with almost any word in any language, offering organizations around the world the opportunity to market their brand, products, community or cause in new and innovative ways.
“Today’s decision will usher in a new Internet age,” said Peter Dengate Thrush, Chairman of ICANN’s Board of Directors. “We have provided a platform for the next generation of creativity and inspiration.”
The decision to proceed with the gTLD program follows many years of discussion, debate and deliberation with the Internet community, business groups and governments. Strong efforts were made to address the concerns of all interested parties, and to ensure that the security, stability and resiliency of the Internet are not compromised.
ICANN will soon begin a global communications program to tell the world about this dramatic change in Internet names and to raise awareness of the opportunities afforded by new gTLDs. The application process will also use this period to elaborate on what is involved in applying for a new generic top-level domain.
Under the plan, new gTLDs applications to be accepted beginning on January 12.
The decision to launch the new gTLD program raised the curtain on ICANN’s 41st public meeting, taking place in Singapore. It is just one of the issues that will dominate the weeklong meeting.
On Wednesday, the focus will turn to cyber security with the inauguration in Singapore of a specially built “hardened” facility, the first of three around the world that are helping to secure the domain names of all countries. The Singapore meeting will continue through the week and conclude on Friday with a public meeting of the Board of Directors.

Use facebook without gprs connection in mobile

U2opia, a Singapore-based software applications developer, has developed a technology which allows users to access Facebook without GPRS connection. The technology works on any handset. The technology is called Unstructured Supplementary Data (USSD). This technology is used by telecom service providers to give service alerts after say a user makes a call or uses GPRS service. It is also used to provide menu based services to users.

The USSD technology is the same which is used to provide user alerts such as Balance updates at the end of calls, Flash messages etc. The Application has been developed keeping in mind the slow penetration of smartphones through out India. The service will suit best to Low End Phones which do not have Smartphone Capabilities. Though you will not be able to view graphics and videos. It is similar to text message service so having negligible load on the Network.

Airtel customers can update their Facebook status through this service free of cost, But customer will have to pay Rs 1 per day for accessing all the features, which enables viewing news feeds, commenting on or liking news feed stories, posting on friends’ walls, confirming friend requests, viewing notifications and finding as well as adding friends.
Airtel users can dial *325# and *fbk# for non-qwerty mobile handsets to access Facebook without subscribing to data plans !
